Google has launched their mobile version of Google AdSense, now available on the iPhone and Android platforms. Not surprising that Google was the first to implement full blow advertising in applications. What was once free, will now be a little less free as users of free apps will now be forced to sit through targeted advertising embedded into the application. Developers of the app do have the choice to decide what ads are shown, block certain ads and how they are shown. While users may be less than thrilled with the new addition of advertising be delivered through their apps, many marketing and advertising professionals are scrambling to buy ads. What do you do when you are faced with upper management that doesn’t understand Social Media and why it should be an important part of the marketing strategy? I stumbled across a great presentation by Chris Brogan today that pretty much sums up the question of “How to Convince Your Boss that Social Media has Value”. It’s on HubSpot and I highly recommend that you check it out. It was recorded earlier this year but is still very applicable

I just finished attending a virtual online conference through B2B titled The Leading Edge; leading_edge160x130.

The benefits of being able to attend the conference from my desk were great, I was able to answer emails continue working in-between session breaks and download content immediately from the presentations. The keynotes were clear and came through with video and overall I thought Continue Reading ->

My last official day as a contractor with Microsoft was yesterday, January 21st. This morning Microsoft Corp. said it is cutting 5,000 jobs over the next 18 months and 1400 of those this month due to their low earnings report. The report was released today with an 11 percent drop in second-quarter profits and due to the news their stock is off 8% this morning – I don’t even look these days at the actual numbers in my portfolio, I’m just riding out the wave. Looks like there will be another 1400 people looking at the job boards… not a pretty picture.
